Just a few short days after Mom booked her newborn session, this little man made his debut into the world.  A few weeks early and just shy of 5lbs, this little guy surprised everyone.  You would never have known he was born early though - he was so alert and strong and all of his little newborn wrinkles were just the cutest (as is that hint of strawberry blonde hair)!

The session took place in the studio in Everett and we were able to create portraits of the baby by himself as well as with each of his parents.  I love being able to capture that first family portrait and I love still being able to create that natural/lifestyle feel even in the studio environment!

Richmond Beach (in Edmonds, WA) is a special place for this family.  Their beautiful home is just up the street and has amazing water views.  The family knew they wanted to print their portraits so they loved the thought of incorporating the water - to match their view.  

Well the beach (and surrounding areas) did not disappoint!  The early morning was the perfect time to be near the water and the winter sun made a surprising visit.  

I love Richmond Beach for family sessions because of the variety of different "backdrops".  You, of course, have the water, the beach and some great drift wood but then you also have trees and colorful bushes and tons of tall grass up above.

This session took place in the Lincoln & Lucy studio in downtown Everett.  We chose a simple and natural background/theme (I think simple portraits of children are the best).

This little one was born several weeks early but you'd never know he was a preemie by how well he did for his baby milestone session.  He was so curious and alert and he gave the best smiles.  We were even able to get a couple of cute portraits of his wiggly big brother too!

I feel like I say this all of the time - but I really do LOVE simple, natural newborn photography.  There is just something about newborn portraits that are REAL!  I love they way they wiggle and stretch and how they are constantly trying to put their fist in their mouth.  I don't mind it when they don't sleep and they give me such perfect, intense eye contact.  But most of all, I want to create portraits that you will treasure.  Believe me, you will want to remember your baby just like this!  

Most natural newborn sessions take place in your home (like this Lake Forest Park session did), however you are also welcome to bring baby to my studio in Everett, WA.  Whichever is easiest for you!  :)

This extended family photography session was so special.   I've lived across the street from this family for several years now in Lake Stevens and they are just the best neighbors.  It was great to be able to spend a little personal time with them photographing their family - especially since the two little granddaughters were there (and seriously....aren't the portraits with Grandma and Grandpa the best)!

We chose a beautiful local location as a backdrop and we totally lucked out with the weather (it was supposed to rain hard that day).  It ended up being perfect - just the right amount of light and clouds.
