West Seattle - Lincoln Park Family Pictures

I know that this blog post has nothing to do with school pictures…….BUT……I did meet them after I took their daughters school pictures at her preschool in West Seattle. They loved their school pictures so they reached out to me about a family photo session. I was happy to oblige - I love my school families!

Living in West Seattle, they chose Lincoln Park for their session location. We only had a small stretch of beach but it was beautiful and allowed their little one some room to play (which is best for all those wiggly kiddos)!

Senior Portraits at Deception Pass

She’s a senior! And the craziest thing is I first met her when she was in middle school (as her school photographer). I LOVE it when I get to see them again - particularly for something as important as their senior portraits. She wanted an amazing Pacific NW backdrop and you can’t get much more beautiful than Deception Pass.

Deception Pass is a great location because not only do you get that beach and water look but there is also trees and forest to explore too!

Early Summer Family Photos

We all know that Fall is the most popular time of the year in the PNW for family pictures. Yeah, I know, it’s great - we all love that fall color. But summer is a great time too. Summer highlights those colorful shrubs and stunning greenery. And most importantly…… we get to avoid those dreaded rainy weekends! :)

Newborn Photography - Perfect At Home

Are you a little intimidated by the thought of an at-home newborn photography session?  Do you think….my house isn’t nice enough, I don’t want to have to clean the entire house so soon after having a baby, there isn’t enough natural light for good pictures or maybe you really have your heart set on a more traditional newborn or family picture.

Well I have a secret for you – your entire session can take place in just one room!  We don’t need anything fancy – a simple tidy bedroom will do (meaning – no need to clean the whole house).

And there is no need to worry about the light – I bring my lights with me and to recreate the “studio” environment right in your own home!

It’s the perfect mix of casual lifestyle family pictures and more traditional posed portraits.  You don’t have to decide what type of picture you love most – you get both!

The session below is an example of a recent at-home newborn session.  The entire session took place in the small master bedroom.  It was relaxed and calm and because we were at home, older brother was able to participate in pictures AND still stick to his daily nap routine (and we all know how important that is)……

Are you interested in your own at-home session?  I’d love to chat about how we can make that happen!

The bedroom wall was used as our “backdrop”

The small bedroom window in the room didn’t provide enough light for the portraits I wanted to capture - it was no problem though because I brought a light and large softbox and I was able to create the perfect “window” light.
