I met this family in Bothell a little over 2 years ago when I photographed their new family - shortly after the birth of their first child.  This time, I was back for baby boy number 2! 

I absolutely love being invited back into a families home.  It's so fun to see how the older one has grown and see them react to their new baby brother or sister.  It's also fun to see how similar or different the kiddos are.  In this case, big brother was a great sleeper (even at 5 weeks old).  Whereas little brother only wanted to be in his Momma's arms and swaddles were a must any time we put him down!  

At- home lifestyle sessions are perfect - especially when you also have a toddler at home.  When baby is being photographed alone, the older one can play in another room, eat a snack or take a nap (whatever they would normally be doing at that time of day)!

This at-home baby and breastfeeding session in Lake Stevens was the absolute sweetest. Mom's youngest baby was just about to start weening and she wanted to document the connection she had with her while breastfeeding.  Mom also mentioned before the session that all of her girls usually start their morning cuddled up in bed with her - so we made sure to use the bed as the setting of most of the images!

I just love spending time with this little guy.  He is the sweetest thing and always so calm and smiley.  So far I’ve photographed the moments right after his birth, his newborn pictures, his 3 month pictures and now his 6 month pictures.  It’s really great to see him grow!

These baby milestone sessions are perfect for documenting all of the distinct baby stages.  It all goes by very fast (and a little blurry if you aren’t getting much sleep)!

At home newborn photography sessions are the best.  This session in Lynnwood was no exception!  When Mom was about half way through her pregnancy she contacted me about pictures.  I instantly connected with her because she mentioned that she didn't want overly posed images and she didn't want to use any props.  I loved this because I also gravitate towards natural pictures of babies.  Newborns often "pose" themselves in the best way - so I prefer to follow along!  

This little one loved to curl her tiny fingers and bring her hands up to her head.  She was so peaceful sleeping and sleeping on the bed like this allowed Mom to cuddle with her baby for some of the images.   Loved it.

I know I say it a lot but I absolutely love at-home lifestyle newborn photography sessions.  There is just something about capturing those early baby days right there at home.  They say that home is where the heart is so there is no better setting for your baby's pictures.  

As a photographer it's also fun entering a new environment and finding new pockets of light. This Seattle newborn session was no exception.  My favorite images were captured in both the nursery and the living room.  The only props that were used were baby's own blankets and Mom and Dad.
