Another school year is halfway over – it didn’t even dawn on me until my 1st grader came home and told me all about his 100th day of school celebration.  So in honor of that, I thought it would be a great time to highlight some of the favorite portraits I have taken this year….and all of them are school pictures!

I know I’m mainly known for my family and baby photography but I also specialize in creating modern and timeless school portraits.  I don’t think that school pictures should have to be boring and cookie cutter.  I love making images that highlight each child’s unique personality and each child received a full gallery of images and expressions to choose from (in both color and black/white)!

 I’ve had the honor of documenting hundreds of school children this year and here is a small sample of some of the happy kiddos!  I'd love to share all of them but I only share images when parents have given me formal permission :)

I have been photographing the family below for over 4 years now.  I had the honor of meeting both of the little ones just shortly after they were born.  It’s been so nice meeting up with them on a yearly basis to touch base and to see how the kids have grown.  For this session, we chose a Snohomish location with beautiful fall colors and lots of room for the kids to run and play.

As a mother, I know that you may be worried about your little one’s behavior during your family portrait session.  Are they going to behave?  Are they going to smile for the camera?  Is my toddler going to have his normal afternoon meltdown?  However, also as a mother, I have seen it all!  There is nothing that your child can do to surprise me (my own two little boys are normally pretty crazy).  And I’ve also developed techniques to help kids have a fun time during the session. 

So when you book a family session with me, you have one less thing to worry about.  We will choose the perfect location to not only allow for beautiful portraits but will also allow for a little wiggle and running room for the littles. 

You might never believe that the 3-year-old in the portraits below wanted nothing to do with pictures at first.  It wasn’t until we went hunting for fairies that she decided that family pictures weren’t so bad!

I love when families get together for extended family pictures.  Grandma and Grandpa were visiting all the way from Maine so they took the opportunity for a much-needed family portrait update (the last one was 8 years ago – when their daughter was a baby)! 

During the pre-session consultation, I asked about locations and what would fit their personality the best.  The family wanted somewhere with pretty fall colors.  Normally that’s not a problem – the greater Seattle area is a beautiful place to be in the Fall.  However, the forecast showed rain for this particular weekend and because family was visiting from out of town, we couldn’t reschedule the session.  Thankfully I knew the PERFECT location in Snohomish.  It had some covered areas in case of rain and it also had some amazing and vibrant flora and fauna! 

I just loved how the images turned out!  And they looked even more beautiful on the mounted prints and premium canvases the family ordered!

I absolutely love when a family brings their little one back for family portrait photography session.  I met this family over a year ago when their guy was just a few days old.  I remember that he had the sweetest little baby cry and a full head of dark black hair.  Well as you can see, he’s grown a bit since then - and his hair is now blonde!

Like a typical mini toddler, he was all over the place during the session.  He loved running and playing and he was great at smiling for the camera. 

It was great to catch up with Mom & Dad too – I sincerely enjoy getting to know all of you so it’s nice to chat and find out what’s new!
