When Mom scheduled babies 3 month portraits she mentioned that her Mom (Grandma) wanted to come along to watch the portrait session.  I was so excited she would be there because - 1. I love to meet people's parents and 2. I will always jump at the chance to create multi-generational portraits.  Baby is the first grandchild so Grandma as a very special bond with her.  I definitely wanted her in some of the portraits!

It was time for baby L's portraits as she just turned 6 months old.  I encouraged Mom to bring in big brother too because as a Mother I know how it's important it is for us to have portraits of all of our babies!  Baby was so precious and Big Brother did an amazing job.  

The little one is dressed in some heirloom dresses - thought it was incredibly sweet to save these for her baby girl!

As some of you know, my husband and I struggled with infertility when it was time to try for our second baby.  I know all about the tests, invasive procedures, and the craziness that is involved with infertility treatments and IVF (not to mention the massive hit to the savings account).  So whenever I meet someone else who has been through it too, I feel an instant bond with them.

I've been a professional photographer for about 6 years now - 4 years of that time I was balancing a full time corporate job with the business.  It was definitely a struggle but I still enjoyed it because of the people I worked with!  Although I'm much happier now that I'm 100% focused on my family and my portrait business, I do definitely miss my friends at "work".  

I mention all of this because the woman below was one of the great people I had the pleasure of working with.  I always say that your co-workers can make or break the job so I was so lucky to be able to spend time with her everyday.  2 years later and we have both left the corporate world.  She has moved on and has finished her yoga instructor training and is now regularly teaching yoga (such a good fit for her).  She needed some headshots for her website and marketing so I was happy to bring her in to the studio for a mini headshot session.  

We have plans to create yoga specific portraits soon so stay tuned!

Ahhh 8 months old - such a great age to photograph!  Often times they are sitting up and steady, they are FULL of smiles and different facial expressions but they aren't too mobile yet (which makes it easier on the photographer)!  

Sometimes a little one may have a bit of separation anxiety and are a little cautious of my big camera and studio light.  But I always keep Momma close by - besides, Mom is always the best at getting the big smiles!

This one was as cute as ever and it was such a pleasure to have her and Mom in the studio with me.  I love creating portraits for babies but I also love being able to chat with new Mom's during the session and reveal appointment!
